Media Monitoring Highlights

  • Sputnik reported that some 138,000 people have been displaced by the military operation against Daesh (the so-called Islamic State) in the Iraqi city of Mosul. It cited IOM.
  • Indonesia’s Tempo and Merdeka reported that the port city of Makassar is currently hosting almost 2,000 irregular migrants, mostly from Afghanistan and Iran. The migrants are being housed in the community and in a detention centre. IOM and UNHCR are providing funding.
