Dushanbe, September 11, 2013 - IOM Tajikistan together with the IOM Moscow and IOM Islamabad have successfully delivered 11-day training session on “Canadian Orientation Abroad” for 163 afghan refugees residing in Tajikistan.

The Canadian Orientation Abroad (COA) is the Government of Canada-funded pre-departure orientation training project. IOM has been conducting Canada Orientations Training Sessions in different countries since 1998.

The objective of 11-day training session was: to provide refugees with accurate information about life in Canada; to help refugees develop realistic expectations about settlement in Canada; to develop refugees’ awareness and skills necessary for successful adaptation to their new society, especially during their first months of stay in Canada, and to address refugees’ concerns and questions.

COA Session was provided to 163 private sponsorship refugees and Government Assisted Refugee auditory in IOM premises during 1- September to 11 September 2013 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
