“I know what it means to be desperate to make ends meet”.
Thanks to IOM, the prospects of Ms. Ibrahim, a 38-year-old Somali IDP, are now brighter. She participated in IOM’s cash for work programme implemented in Mogadishu. Through the project, 840 women were given short-term employment in waste management projects. The communities benefited from healthier surroundings while the women were financially empowered. Ms. Ibrahim, a mother of five children, saved her salary to start a small shop.
“With this small beginning, I am confident I can transform my family. I have been given a fresh start and hope in my life,” she explained.
