Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) against women and children in the Ituri district (D.R.Congo) is a major concern for IOM. It is well known that an efficient and effective police force is critical to help prevent and address SGBV. In partnership with UNPOL, IOM supports the government’s efforts to strengthen the capacities of the national police force by providing training and awareness on SGBV to hundreds of policemen, building police offices and supplying modern equipment such as radios, laptops, motorbikes and cars.
